11-3-01 news! After the long and arduous former rant, I decided to keep this one a little simpler. Today's strip goes back to the simple humor of Tempest and Cid, and surprisingly, manages to weave the Halloween episode into the storyline. I didn't plan it that way, I swear... Anyway, Windows XP is working very well for me. It runs smoothly (so far) and has some pretty sweet-lookin' graphics to it. I also have Office XP, which means I'm writing this in Frontpage instead of that drivel of a program I was using before. I know some of you hate Frontpage, but believe me, it's a change for the better. So this has been a good week. No, a great week. I got Road Runner, Windows XP, Office XP, some money (making tips kicks ass, btw) and even got to talk to Remmie a couple of times. Life is good. You didn't think I could go for an entire newspost/rant without ranting, did you? Neither did I. Magic. Yes, I said magic. I mentioned in a previous rant (I don't remember which one offhand, or else I'd link to it) that I believe magic can be explained within a Christian (or at least spiritual) framework. I'm about to take that a step further. I don't just believe magic, I've seen it in action. Moreover, I've performed it myself. Many people perform minor acts of magic (healing and such) without realizing it was anything out of the ordinary. I can't remember a time when I couldn't bend the winds. By "bend" I mean change direction, speed, etc. It's a slow process, but with nothing else to gauge it against, I suppose it works phenomenally well, neh? I have an analogy that seems to work pretty well. I believe anyone can change the weather. Think of it as a giant beach ball. For most people, changing the weather is like the beach ball is filled with cement and sitting on wet plastic. If they try hard enough, it will move. But few dare to try. For me, it's like the ball is filled with water and is on a less slick surface. I can move it more easily, but still not as easily as I can move, say, my left arm. I've been arguing with myself for years as to whether it was just in my head or whether it was indeed real. I have evidence that convinces me personally, and that's enough. I don't have to convince you guys. But I do so love making you think. ;) Remmie tried to explain my abilities once by saying perhaps I changed the pressure of the air rather than moving or twisting the currents themselves. I'm not really certain as to the mechanics of it except that it works. It's a matter of visualization become reality... Anyway, I'm sure I'll continue with such fantastic tales at a later time. In the meantime, read "The Towers of the Sunset" by L.E. Modesitt, Jr. It is the second in the Saga of Recluce. Creslin, the main character, is a weather wizard. Although I'm not quite so strong as he is, it's the closest example I can give you easily. I was able to describe my abilities in terms of Order and Chaos, as Modesitt does, but later "outgrew" these definitions. But I digress. I seem to have rambled, but I think I got something worthwhile said, neh? It's just nice to see double spacing after the periods of my sentences. It was utterly annoying not to be able to space more than once on that old page editor... ~TDC, who is glad things are going well, and hopes they
