TheDarkChristian:

11-15-01

new tangent

Interesting stuff lately.  Today's strip is an attempt to break down the fourth wall, do some characterization, play with some eye candy and get some payback all in one.  Do you like it?  I hope so.  Made me chuckle.  ;)

As for philosophy lately: I discussed at great length some ideas with a friend of mine.  We talked for hours about religion and philosophy.  Interesting guy.  I won't go into his beliefs, but will touch on the topics discussed briefly.

Does the physical world exist?  Or is it a figment of our imaginations?  Or, for that matter, of God's imagination?  I personally believe it does exist, if only because people continue to surprise me, and if I were "the" supreme being, having created this world purely for my amusement, I doubt I would be surprised at any thing that occurred within it.  That's a lot of philosophy to swallow in one small paragraph, so I'll move on.  ^_^

On spiritual authority.  Something distinguishes me from most Christians, and I've only recently begun to see what it is.  Many Christians talk about spiritual power or authority, but always in the abstract.  Indeed, when you get down to the nitty-gritty, they defend themselves with the whole "faith" thing, which pisses off anyone attempting an intelligent debate, myself included.  I, on the other hand, exercise my God-given authority and power.  I'm amazed, ashamed actually, that so few others do so.

I have found that my "religion" little resembles modern Christianity anymore.  It's more like I'm a freelancer for God, doing what I know is right by His Word, learning from what others believe, and using that to shape my own beliefs.  I was reminded recently (through discussion, not through someone's actions) how much I dislike any person who claims to be a Christian and fails to do something so simple as love their neighbor.

HELLO!!! That's what Christianity is all about, people!

If you're not loving your neighbor, then what's the point?  I mean, sure, I dislike institutions (fuck Netzero!) and dislike people now and then (stupid driver!  Why don't you watch where I'm going!!!) but I do my best to show God's love toward them despite my thoughts, and I'm working on those.

One last thing.  You'll notice I use harsh language here at Reset on a fairly regular basis.  The main reason for that is that Reset is a place where I can vent my frustrations, and get things off my chest.  I'm not this angry all the time, nor this philosophical, for that matter.  So don't worry too much about me.  Not yet, anyway.  ^_~

Oh, and please help promote Reset.  I'm doing what I can to make it better.  I've decided where the storyline is going for sure and will be moving it at a much faster pace now.  All the archives work now and I've gone back and retitled and numbered the comics.  If you like Reset, please let your friends know.  October was slower than September, and I'd like to see us rally this month.  Thanks for your help in advance!
