1-15-02 Drive-thrus Today's strip should be the last character intro for a little while... A couple of strips at least. I know where I'm going with this, believe me. At least, I think I do... Anyway. I went up to the drive-thru at a local Taco Bell today and remembered every time they had screwed up my order there. Why did I keep going back? Because it was one of the few places open after 10pm in the area, and I didn't feel like going to McDonald's. As I pull up to the drive-thru window, some Mexican d00d asked me if I wanted to try something-or-other. After this, the voice always switches over, and the person asks me if the half of the order they heard was all I wanted. I usually patiently repeat my order, then drive around to pick up the wrong order... Well, I realized something today: ignore everything they say, just repeat your order clearly two or three times. Forget pleasantries like "please" or "thank you" as it will only confuse them. You don't have to be polite: they don't want you to. They just want you to order, pay, and drive away, hopefully never to return (the workers, not the restaurant). So, sometimes, I guess it pays to be rude. They got my order right for the first time in a very long time. *chuckle* TDC, who needs more motivation |
