11-10-01 Apollo G's What a strange weekend. First of all, I need to apologize. It is now Sunday night (or Monday morning, depending on how you look at it) at around 1 am. Saturday's Reset is just now going up, and that is what I'm apologizing for. No rant or Reset for an entire weekend... Believe me, it hurts me more than it hurt you. Now let me explain. The computer expo I've been talking about that comes by every four months was in town this weekend. I found out as I was leaving work on Friday, and went immediately. Took me about an hour to find the best deal for what I wanted and buy the components. Got home at about six, and went out to eat with my Mom and Dad (long story). Worked on the hardware for a few hours, did a little cleaning and rearranging, and went to start it up. That's when I realized I'd forgotten a video card. >.< Well, my dad had been pestering me with questions all night about what specs would be necessary for an office computer. I was excited, as my father has absolutely no interest in computers. He has seen the need for computerization for a long time, but since he was doing the paperwork himself, did not see the need for him to learn the computer (not to mention type with arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome). Well, we have hired someone in the office, and she will be computerizing the company. The bad news is that shopping the next day for my dad's new computer and my video card (I also decided to get some more RAM) took most of Saturday. Then I went to work and made money, came home and installed the card and couldn't make my computer work. I went to bed frustrated. Came at the problem again earlier today (after church) and figured out that my problem was software, not hardware. I contacted my hookup, managed to procure my WinXP disks, and restored the system. Which is why I'm able to talk to you now. So, it's been a long strange weekend, and I'm sorry for any inconveniences it caused you. But imagine not only not being able to get online for two days, but not even being able to access your mp3s! It's been a tough weekend for me, and I'm glad it's over. So here are the specs on my old computer. 380 Mhz AMD Athlon processor, IBM motherboard, 88 Mb RAM. >.< My new computer has a 1.4 Ghz AMD Thunderbird processor, ASUS motherboard, and 786 Mb RAM. ^_^ Much better. My computer now moves faster than I do, which I never thought would be possible. Needless to say, I'm happy. And you should be too. There is no telling yet what this means for Reset. ~TDC, who is happy to finally have his computer working |
