Summoners

Who says Magus can't summon?  Has anyone ever asked him?  *chuckle*  I wonder if he knows that TDC uses his form occasionally...  Any idea what he would do if he found out?  :D

Summoning is an interesting concept and seems to have become a key element in RPGs lately.  Okay, maybe it's just the Final Fantasy series, but you still see my point.  FF9 and FFX are both extremely focused on the importance of summoners...

Or perhaps it's just on my mind as I think about one of the few male mages in The Magitech Project, who is a summoner...

I've always liked the idea that someone could bring creatures into this world from another world to do their bidding.  It's really a frightening concept if there are any large, forbidding and ominous creatures lurking on the other side of reality, but if they're all a bunch of furry little hamsters, the art of summoning loses a bit of its...  appeal.

I find it interesting that summoned beasts in said role-playing games are brought in only to fight.  Has anyone considered the fact that they could be summoned to comfort someone, or just to carry the damned luggage?  I mean, seriously, who's got enough pockets for your 99 potions, let alone your tents?

Or perhaps I'm just ranting to keep myself distracted from the problems facing me this weekend.  Who knows?  ^_~

TDC, who would like to see a fish-out-of-water summon
- but the bard's songs will remain...
