12-20-01 LotR Today's strip was kind of cheap, I know, and I apologize. I just didn't want to mess with getting new sprites to complete today's comic, as I'm pretty tired, which reason I will explain later. Jenny makes the hard decision to admit that she's not Janus' sister. Well, maybe not such a difficult decision for her, but tough for me. It'd be interesting to see how it would affect the world if Schala really turned out to be Jenny who had tricked young Janus into thinking she was Schala, thereby erasing her altogether, and causing... *head hurts* Enough of that. On with the rant. I went to see a midnight showing of Lord of the Rings Tuesday night (Wednesday morning?) and I must say, it kicked some proverbial ass. Okay, so it kicked lots of ass. I honestly don't have a complaint about this movie, and that's rare - really rare - for a book that has been turned into a movie. I'm sure we all remember the Battlefield Earth debacle, so I won't speak of it again. We all knew the storyline was incredible, but incredible acting and an incredible soundtrack helped to make the movie, well, incredible. ^_^'' The casting was very well done. I was apprehensive about it at first, but I was all gung-ho about it when I started recognizing characters by face before they were introduced. It's like meeting old friends... I also plan to buy the soundtrack on the 26th. Why so late? Because it's selfish and rude to buy anything for yourself before Christmas, you scrooge. ;) I found myself saying "wow" every few minutes. Often it was because of some computer-generated statue, but more often it was because of the gorgeous landscapes. I am still so in awe of their beauty that I have trouble putting it into words... I had the benefit of seeing it with a loud crowd. There was much clapping after the movie, but I must say there was a good deal more during key points in the movie; sometimes just at the introduction of a character. There was a loud level of applause when Strider finally took out the leader of the Uruk-hai (sp?) in a very dramatic manner. There was even stuff that didn't appear in the book, like when Legolas... well, I'll let you find out. ^_~ In short, go and see this movie now. Right now. In other words, stop reading this rant and go see it. Now. Why are you still here? Oh yeah, the update goes live at 1:30 am, and if you're like me, that's when you read comics, and the theaters aren't open yet... Okay, then go see it at your next available opportunity. *chuckle* Oh yeah, I also saw Ocean's 11, which was a good movie and worth seeing. After LotR, mind you. ;) TDC, who is slightly lower on cash than he
